Fengmoto Expert Group - Chinese Academy of Engineering - Chen Wenfu: Biochar will contribute to sustainable agricultural development
"The comprehensive utilization of agricultural and forestry wastes with biochar as the core will become a strategic emerging industry with the greatest development potential in China in the future, contributing to national food security and sustainable agricultural development." Chen Wenfu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Shenyang Agricultural University, said at the 2013 annual academic meeting of the China Crop Society held recently in Henan Agricultural University.
Biochar usually refers to the carbon-rich product formed by pyrolysis of biomass such as agricultural and forestry waste under hypoxia and certain temperature conditions. In the field of environment, biochar is mainly used to solve the problem of straw burning, reduce non-point source pollution, and achieve agricultural "carbon sequestration"; In the field of agriculture, it is mainly used to improve soil, improve fertility, repair farmland, and improve crop yield and quality.
In recent years, China's grain production has increased year after year. However, behind the bumper crop is the production of 700 million tons of straw every year, of which less than one-third of the straw is returned to the field, and the rest is basically burned or discarded. If these agricultural wastes such as straw are returned to the field, it is undoubtedly an effective measure to curb soil degradation and improve the quality of cultivated land.
Chen Wenfu said that in all the ways of straw utilization, the first should be fertilizer return to the field, direct return to the field or carbonized return to the field. This is not only the need to improve soil, achieve sustainable development of farmland, and ensure food security, but also the need to crack the problem of straw burning and strengthen environmental and ecological construction.
In order to improve soil fertility, in recent years, foreign countries began to study the possibility of introducing biochar application technology into the field of agricultural environment. However, the foreign biochar industry does not meet the needs of ecological construction and sustainable development of our country for various reasons.
In this regard, Chen Wenfu believes that according to the actual situation in China, the overall design idea of biochar and agricultural research should be: using biochar as the carrier, producing slow-release fertilizer and soil amendments, and realizing the carbonization of straw to return to the field.
At present, Chen Wenfu's research team has created a combined mobile carbonization furnace and a simple carbon process, and has carried out extensive biochar and agricultural research. They also initially designed the industrial technology model of "agricultural and forestry waste carbonization to return to the field", using the nearby carbon production of raw materials and the remote processing mode of carbon collection, reducing transportation costs through relatively dispersed carbon production network, and realizing large-scale biochar preparation.
Chen Wenfu calculated an account: if half of the country's 700 million tons of straw to produce biochar, there will be 100 million tons of production. This is equivalent to more than 100 million tons of equivalent soil amendments or more carbon fertilizer for returning soil to improve the soil without increasing the input of farmers.
"If half of the 1.4 billion tons of agricultural and forestry waste can be produced into biochar, there will be 210 million tons of production, equivalent to 150 million tons of standard coal, and economic benefits can be achieved of 110.2 billion yuan." In addition, it is possible to completely solve the problem of squalor that has long plagued rural areas." Chen Wenfu said.
Shandong Fengben Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Academician Chen Wenfu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering set up a biochar academician workstation.
The company cooperated with Academician Chen Wenfu to develop biochar microbial microbial agent - root steward - carbon-based microbial microbial agent, the perfect combination of Academician Chen's biochar technology and the company's microbial bacteria technology, is the leading product at home and abroad to improve the soil environment, solve soil pollution, and repair soil!
Root steward - carbon-based microbial agent, has been best-selling in the country for three consecutive years, in a variety of crops, a variety of soil environment have excellent performance, whether it is fruit or vegetable producing areas, whether it is the southern tropical region or the northwest plateau, Fengben dealers are working hard, Fengben agricultural personnel are working hard!
